12-Day Premium Luxury Honeymoon Safari

overview

This 12-day premium luxury honeymoon itinerary combines a romantic safari through Tanzania’s Northern Circuit—Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Serengeti, and Ngorongoro Crater—with an idyllic beach escape in Zanzibar. Crafted for intimacy and indulgence, it incorporates your interests in Tanzanian wildlife, cultural experiences, Serengeti, Ngorongoro, and Zanzibar, as well as your preference for premium safari experiences.
Day 1 - 2: TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK

Today your safari adventure begins! We will pick you up from your hotel in or around Arusha. During the 2.5 hour drive you will enjoy wonderful views of the landscape and local communities. Upon arrival at Tarangire National Park you will go on a game drive. This park is famous for its large numbers of elephants, baobab trees, and tree climbing African pythons. At the end of the day we will make our way to the lodge. Be sure to take a dive in the swimming pool!

  • Main destinations: Tarangire NP
  • Accommodations: Marambol Tented Lodge

Day 3: LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK

Lake Manyara National Park is dominated by a shallow alkaline lake at the base of the Rift Valley escarpment. It is famous for its tree-climbing lions and large elephant herds. The park entrance leads to a junglelike groundwater forest, which is home to big numbers of olive baboon and blue monkey. A thrilling 370m-/1,200ft-long treetop walkway offers a bird’s-eye view into this unique habitat.

Due to Lake Manyara’s high water level in recent years, there isn’t a game-drive track following the shore anymore. This has unfortunately changed the quality of wildlife viewing and birding considerably. However, four of the

Big Five are present (rhino is absent). Animals easily seen include buffalo, elephant, giraffe, zebra and wildebeest. Look out for solitary bushbuck creeping around in the forest undergrowth and pairs of klipspringer balancing on rocks near the hot springs (Maji Moto).

  • Main destinations: Lake Manyara NP
  • Accommodations: Mvuli Lodge

Day 4 - 5:SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

The focus of most safaris in northern Tanzania, Serengeti National Park is renowned as the arena for the world’s greatest mammal migration. Even away from this iconic wildlife spectacle, the Serengeti’s sheer density of animals makes for incredible wildlife viewing throughout the year. The southern plains near Seronera are the most popular, but it’s also worth exploring the Western Corridor and Mara River regions.

The annual great migration comprises more than 2 million wildebeest, zebra and gazelle traveling an 800km/500mi loop across the savannah of the Mara-Serengeti ecosystem. Most of the migration takes place in the Serengeti, which is far larger than Kenya’s Masai Mara National Reserve.

  • Main destinations: Serengeti NP
  • Accommodations: Kon tiki Africa camp

Day 6: NGORONGORO CRATER

After breakfast, you will drive to the Ngorongoro Crater for game viewing and a picnic lunch. This park is one of the most densely crowded wildlife areas in the world and is home to an estimated 30,000 animals. The crater is often called “Africa’s Eden” and is also considered the eighth Natural Wonder of the World. A visit to this amazing place is the main draw for tourists coming to Tanzania and undoubtedly a world-class attraction! Within the crater rim, large herds of zebra and wildebeest graze while lions sleep and laze in the sun nearby. At dawn, the endangered black rhino will return to the thick cover of the crater forests, after grazing on the dew-laden grass in the morning mist. Just outside the crater’s ridge, tall Maasai herd their cattle and goats over green pasture and through highland slopes. They live alongside the wildlife here as they have done for centuries.

  • Main destinations: Ngorongoro crater
  • Accommodations: Mvuli lodge
